West Ham star Sam Baldock is desperate for chance to prove his worth at Upton Park after finding his opportunities limited last term.
The 23-year-old made an explosive start to his Hammers career after joining the club from MK Dons last summer as he bagged five goals in his first nine games.
However, he then found himself out of the side due to the form of Carlton Cole and boss Sam Allardyce's insistence on playing with just one up front.
Baldock has also seen other attackers arrive at the club since the turn of the year including Ricardo Vaz Te and Nicky Maynard to push him further down the pecking order, but he is refusing to give up on his dream of showing off his skills in the Premier League.
The striker came up with a timely reminder of his talents by scoring in the club's opening pre-season friendly as Allardyce's men slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Austria Vienna on Saturday.
Baldock told Sky Sports: "I don't see why I can't take this opportunity to stake my claim.
"Everyone knows that during the second half of last year I was very frustrated.
"I'm a footballer who wants to play football at the end of the day. I've been working hard and hopefully I'll be given a chance to show what I can do."
