Italian club Cesena have revealed Valron Behrami rejected a move amid claims he has a deal in place to join a bigger club in January.
The Serie A new boys made a move for the Swiss star on transfer deadline day but were rejected by Behrami with their chairman revealing he had pledged his future to another club.
"We wanted the player because our coach (Massimo Ficcadenti) knows him well," Igor Campedelli told calciomercato.it.
"He said no because he had already given his word to bigger clubs."
Behrami has been linked with a move away from Upton Park throughout the summer and it now appears as though he could get his wish in January.
Italian giants Roma revealed on Wednesday they had failed to sort out a last-minute deal for Behrami and rumours suggest the former Lazio player could complete a deal to move to the Stadio Olimpico in the new year.
"(Roma's) President Rosella Sensi and other executives tried to sign Behrami yesterday," a Roma spokesmen told Centro Suono Sport.
"(Roma sporting director Daniele) Prade tried until the end but there were problems of time as well as some missed assignments that were required for Roma to conclude the deal."
