Winger wades in

West Ham United, 12:37, March 8, 2010

West Ham winger Kieron Dyer has hit out at claims he is a waste of money and says he has done everything possible to get fit.

The former England winger says he has the full backing of boss Gianfranco Zola as he looks to battle back to fitness and is ignoring whispers from the boardroom that he should consider retiring.
Dyer has made seven starts for the club in his two and a half years since joining the club for £6m from Newcastle and he was reacting to remarks made by new co-owner David Sullivan.
Dyer said: "If you buy a football club and you are the owners, you say what you want. They are entitled to their opinions.
"Everyone has forgotten that I probably had a worse leg break than Aaron Ramsey and have had four operations to try to get it right.
"I have put in everything I can to get fit for this club but it is not enough for some people.
"All I can do is get my head down. I have the backing of the manager and hopefully I can get there."
