Blackwell wants Cotterill coup

Wigan Athletic, 10:52, July 7, 2008 ,

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is ready to step up his interest in Wigan winger David Cotterill.

The Wales international spent the second half of last season on loan at Bramall Lane and Blackwell is keen to make the move permanent after kick-starting his summer transfer plans with successful swoops already for Greg Halford and Sun Jihai.
Blackwell has refused to be drawn on his offer for Cotterill but it is understood he has contacted Steve Bruce and talks about his transfer from the JJB are imminent.
Blackwell is keen to add some quality to his Blades squad before the Championship curtain-raiser at Birmingham City on August 9, but has warned he will refuse to be held to ransom.
"I know who I want," Blackwell said. "And I also know what I think they are worth."
