Boro striker in Bruce's sights

Wigan Athletic, 09:06, August 22, 2008 ,

Middlesbrough striker Mido has refused to rule out a loan switch to Wigan ahead of crunch talks with boss Gareth Southgate next week.

The Egypt international claims he is a loan target for Latics boss Steve Bruce who could pair him with countryman Amr Zaki at the JJB.
But former Spurs man Mido is keeping his options open as he looks for the best guarantee of first-team football.
He told FilGoal: "I was informed that Wigan want to sign me on loan, but they are yet to contact Middlesbrough.
"Wigan coach Steve Bruce admires my abilities. He has tried to sign me when he was in charge of Birmingham, and now he has renewed his interest."
Mido added: "I will take my final decision next week after meeting (Middlesbrough coach) Gareth Southgate.
"Southgate told me that he wants to keep me at the Riverside. I will talk with him to settle on the best choice."
