Bruce checks out Venezuela star

Steve Bruce has cast his transfer net far and wide by lining up a swoop for Venezuela international Daniel Arismendi.
The JJB boss is keen to add a proven goalscorer to his attacking options and has now joined Manchester City manager Mark Hughes in declaring an interest in the CF Atlante favourite, according to reports.
Bruce has kept a watching brief on Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas of Club America and Egypt striker Amr Zaki, whose hopes of a switch to the Premier League were dashed when he was threatened by Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas' bodyguards.
Bruce said: "I was delighted to get the Daniel de Ridder signing done, but there will be others over the next month.
"We're a little bit light on numbers still with one or two players having left recently, so they will need replacing.
"But I can't see the need for a big upheaval, it will be more about increasing the quality so we can aim to push higher up the table."
