Bruce hails duo after Toffees win

Wigan Athletic, 11:45, November 25, 2008

Steve Bruce hinted at more involvement for Henri Camara after his goal against Everton, while Lee Cattermole was also given praise.

The Wigan boss was delighted with the attitude of Senegal international, Camara, who came off the substitutes' bench on Monday to score the only goal of the game for Latics in a 1-0 win against Everton at the JJB Stadium. Following the player's first Premier League goal in almost two years after a dismal loan spell at West Ham last term, Bruce was full of praise.

He said: "I don't think Camara played at all last season for West Ham and I didn't even know he was coming back here in the summer.

"I was sitting on a sun bed and found out that Camara had another year. But I know he made himself a bit of a cult hero here a few years ago.

"We all know he's been here for around eight years, he's played at some big clubs and he's capable of getting a goal.

"I'm delighted with him."

Meanwhile, the influential display of England Under-21 international midfielder Cattermole was also singled out by Bruce following the Toffees game.

The former Middlesbrough man, who was recently fined after being involved in a fight outside of a club in his native north-east, bounced back well.

Bruce added: "He's done great for us and has arguably been our best performer this season on a consistent basis.

"I forget that he's only 20. But he certainly won't be going out tonight, that's for sure!"
