Bruce looks to future

Wigan Athletic, 14:11, July 8, 2008 ,

Steve Bruce has challenged seven youngsters to prove they can develop into the next generation of Wigan stars.

Luke Ashworth, Craig Mahon and Jon Routledge were offered one-year professional contracts at the end of last season after impressing in the reserves and youth team.
Lewis Field, Joe Holt, Andrew Pearson and local lad Matty Hampson have also now been handed pro terms and Bruce wants them to prove they are good enough to compete at the highest level.
Bruce told the Evening Post: "They all now have a chance to prove themselves.
"We feel they have the potential to develop into Wigan Athletic players of the future, now it's up to them to show me and the rest of the staff that they have what it takes."
