Bruce positive despite Latics' problems

Wigan will be without Amr Zaki, Emile Heskey, Chris Kirkland and Lee Cattermole for Friday night's FA Cup clash with Tottenham.

Egypt striker Zaki has a knee problem and will sit out the third-round tie at White Hart Lane along with fellow hitman Heskey, who has a hamstring injury.

Goalkeeper Kirkland is missing because of a groin strain so Mike Pollitt will deputise while Cattermole is banned.

Boss Steve Bruce said: "I have not got the biggest of squads in terms of numbers but there are still a few people I can give a chance to.

"The likes of de Ridder, Kilbane and Koumas have not been starting and this is their opportunity to push for a place in the team and to give me a headache."
