Bruce to pounce for Catt

Wigan Athletic, 16:29, July 16, 2008 ,

Middlesbrough's Lee Cattermole is back on top of Steve Bruce's wanted list, as reports claim Wigan have launched a £4million bid.

The Latics boss made his move for the England Under-21 star yesterday, 48 hours after rumours first emerged of the club's interest.
Cattermole, still only 20, was a first-team regular at the Riverside at times last season - but there is now increased competition for places after Boro boss Gareth Southgate strengthened his engine room with the capture of Didier Digard.
Cattermole has made 69 appearances for the Teesiders and notched three goals since making his debut for the club he supported as a boy, three years ago.
He has formed an impressive partnership with Tottenham's Tom Huddlestone for England's Under-21s and had been tipped to play a bigger role in the Boro first team next season.
