Bruce's need for points

Wigan Athletic, 13:06, November 13, 2008 ,

Steve Bruce has described Wigan's clash at Newcastle this weekend as a 'very big game' for Latics as they look to end a poor run.

Bruce's men have won just one of their last five games, a 2-1 success at Portsmouth, and go into Saturday's game at St James' Park sitting one place above the relegation zone.
The Wigan boss is looking for a positive response after the Carling Cup defeat at Arsenal in midweek.
Bruce said: "We got our backsides kicked by a very good, young, talented Arsenal side.
"We now have to dust ourselves and have a go again. Newcastle is a very big game for us and we need the points."
