Cough up, Everton tell Wigan

Wigan Athletic, 09:56, July 18, 2008 ,

Wigan and Sunderland have been told by Everton they will only entertain bids of £10m for striker Andy Johnson, according to reports.

The Goodison Park outfit look set to cash in on the England international, with Latics yesterday said to be preparing a £9m offer.
Everton chief David Moyes appears resigned to losing the former Crystal Palace star, who struggled for first-team football last season, but he will not be going on the cheap.
Sunderland's need for a frontman appears the most pressing following Kenwyne Jones' serious knee injury, but Wigan and West Ham are also in the running for Johnson.
The Hammers sold Bobby Zamora this week to make a space in their squad with Dean Ashton and Craig Bellamy's injury records causing concern at Upton Park.
