Birmingham City are set to snap up Wigan's Ryan Taylor on loan as he leaves the JJB Stadium to get first-team football.
Blues have already held talks with Wigan about loaning the 24-year-old right-back and are hopeful of completing a deal this week.
The defender missed Latics' pre-season and made his only league appearance of the season on Sunday, coming on as a substitute for the final ten minutes of the defeat to Aston Villa.
Blues boss Alex McLeish is desperate to sign a right-back because Stuart Parnaby is sidelined for up to a month with a hamstring injury and Stephen Kelly is still struggling with the torn thigh muscle that has kept him out since the end of September.
