Easton in Wigan's sights

Wigan and Burnley look set to fight it out for Hamilton defender Brian Easton who is rated at around £500,000, according to reports.

The left-back has already been the subject of a failed £350,000 bid from the Clarets and now Latics are tipped to raise the stakes.

However, Burnley are then likely to match the offer, while Championship sides Ipswich and Derby are also credited with an interest in 21-year-old who insists he is ready for the Premier League.

He told the Daily Record: "I don't know what will happen but Accies chairman Ronnie McDonald has always said if a big move came up then he wouldn't stand in my way.

"I know I still have a lot to learn but I feel I'm ready to make the step and follow the rest of the Scottish lads down south."
