Figueroa signs Wigan contract

Wigan manager Steve Bruce has confirmed the permanent signing of loan star Maynor Figueroa on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The 25-year-old moved to the JJB from Honduran side Deportivo Olimpia in January 2008 after initially coming on trial and has been an ever-present for Latics this season.

Bruce said: "I think he can have a great career with us."

He added: "From day one I've been impressed with Maynor's attitude and his professionalism.

"It's always hard when you come into a foreign country when you don't know anybody and you can't speak the language.

"He has done well for us this season and is now getting used to the rigours of the Premier League. He's strong, quick and powerful and I think the best is yet to come from him."
