KK eyes JJB stay

Wigan Athletic, 09:45, December 9, 2008 ,

Kevin Kilbane has confirmed that he is hoping to impress boss Steve Bruce into handing him a new contract at Wigan this season.

The 31-year-old Republic of Ireland international is one of five first-team players who are due to fall out of contract at the JJB Stadium next summer and can effectively sign pre-contract agreements with another club in January. However Kilbane has revealed that he would like to stay put, despite Maynor Figueroa currently restricting his first-team chances in the left-back role.
Kilbane, who is waiting to hold future talks with the club along with Emile Heskey, Ryan Taylor, Henri Camara and Mike Pollitt, told the Evening Post: "I don't know what my long-term plans are - there's been no contract offer or anything.
"It's not particularly in my thinking at the moment. I'll just have to see what happens in the next few months. But I'm happy here, I'd like to stay."
