Koumas wary of 'sticky patch'

Wigan Athletic, 10:49, October 29, 2008

Jason Koumas has urged his Wigan team-mates to rediscover their form from the end of last season to get through this current bad run.

The Wales international midfielder is looking for Steve Bruce's side to end a run of three straight Premier League defeats, culminating in Sunday's 4-0 home mauling against Aston Villa, at Fulham on Wednesday evening. And, while Koumas feels Latics have been playing well of late, he says they must try and get back to being tight at the back after leaking seven goals in the past two matches.

He told the club's website: "It's a big game on Wednesday for us, a game we've definitely got to get something out of.

"We're playing well but we're not winning.

"Whereas last year we were hard to beat, at the moment we're leaking goals, and we need to put it right.

"It was a bad result for us and we're going through a sticky patch at the minute. We definitely need something from somewhere.

"The gaffer was right though, we need to get back to what we were doing last year."
