Latics chief blasts striker claims
Wigan Athletic, 11:33, July 7, 2009 ,
Dave Whelan says there is 'nothing' in the claims that Amr Zaki could return to Wigan due to his previous 'indiscipline'.
The Egyptian international caused a stir on and off the pitch during his 12-month loan spell at Wigan and although he returned to Zamalek, it is thought a European club with capture his signature this summer.
Blackburn, Marseille, Lyon and Panathinaikos have made offers for the 26-year-old, who has recently indicated that he would be keen on a return to the DW Stadium following the appointment of Roberto Martinez.
But speaking to the Evening Post, the chairman said: "I don't think there is any way he could come back. Zaki is difficult to control. There is nothing in it at all.
"When you get players with indiscipline like him, you have just got to wipe your hands of them. It's all over with Zaki - full stop."
