Emmerson Boyce has warned future opposition that Wigan are very close to giving someone a real hammering.
The Latics were left frustrated on Sunday after a brilliant goalkeeping display by Fulham's Mark Schwarzer, with Boyce's strike the only time the north-west outfit managed to beat the Australia international in 19 attempts at goal.
Despite having only scored 12 goals all season Boyce is confident that Wigan are on the verge of solving their problems in the final third.
"We keep knocking on the door - and sooner or later we are going to give someone a hammering," Boyce told the Wigan Observer.
"On another day, the goals would have gone in, but it wasn't meant to be on Sunday.
"Thankfully we didn't get punished at the other end on the breakaway.
"We are working hard every day in training to get it right, but we are inconsistent.
"We put in a great display against Chelsea, then a poor one at Hull. We play well against Manchester City, then not so good at Portsmouth.
"If we can put a consistent run together, it can be a good season for us."
