Martinez expects response
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez expects his players to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Swansea when they travel to Norwich.
The Latics missed the chance to jump off the bottom of the Barclays Premier League table as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home last Saturday, with chairman Dave Whelan scathing of the performance and summoning Martinez to a meeting this week.
The manager made no excuses for the display but is confident his team can turn things around, starting at Carrow Road on Sunday.
Martinez told the club's official website: "The players were really down on Saturday. You could sense it in the dressing room after the game that a great opportunity had passed us.
"The performance was not good enough but the players are responsible, we have a good group here and they're working harder than ever to get themselves on the road to recovery for the Norwich game this weekend, which is how it should be.
"The players and the fans are ready and as a football club we're ready to get out of this position in whatever way we can."
