Martinez sees points on the horizon

Wigan Athletic, 10:43, February 9, 2010 ,

Roberto Martinez insists he does not feel under pressure at Wigan and claims goals and subsequent points are 'just around the corner'.

The Spanish tactician had revealed that a place in Europe was his long-term aim for the Latics when he replaced Steve Bruce last summer. However Martinez's men sit just two points above the Premier League's relegation places after a dismal run of one win in the last nine games.
Martinez is not worried at the moment as he feels his players just need to sharpen up in front of goal and the victories will quickly follow.
Ahead of Stoke's visit on Tuesday, he said: "The pressure is what we put on ourselves with our performances.
"In football it is better to be lucky than being good but if you want to be successful long-term you need to be good on a daily basis.
"I'll be worried when I don't see the players with the right attitude or performing in the right manner.
"The points will come as soon as we are a little more confident in front of goal and that is something that is just around the corner.
"We have been playing really well and the results have not reflected performances so that could be an anxious situation, but we are just ready for the game."
