Ronnie Stam and Albert Crusat are both facing a race against time to be fit for Wigan's home clash with Newcastle on Saturday.
Full-back Stam has a hamstring strain and is already a major doubt for the Magpies' visit while Crusat continues to recover from a calf strain ahead of the weekend. On the duo's chances of making it into the Latics squad for the vital game, boss Roberto Martinez said: "Albert has been working well and we'll know later in the week whether he'll make it, although the news is less positive regarding Ronnie. "He trained up to 70 per cent intensity on Monday and it's a case of increasing that without pushing him too far, too soon."
