Melchiot has sympathy for Heskey

Wigan Athletic, 12:08, November 4, 2008 ,

Mario Melchiot has revealed team-mate Emile Heskey is keeping an open mind about whether to stay or leave Wigan.

Latics risk losing England international Heskey when his contract expires at the end of the season, with former club Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham all credited with an interest in the 30-year-old.
Club captain Melchiot says he would be disappointed to see the fans' favourite leave the JJB Stadium, but understands Heskey keeping his options open.
He said: "At the moment you understand that he has not said too much about it.
"I spoke to him about it in the beginning and he just wants to wait and see what's going to happen as well towards this team and other interest that comes his way.
"I have got to respect his way of thinking."
