Wigan chairman Dave Whelan says there has been no approach from Tottenham for boss Roberto Martinez.

Not for the first time this summer Whelan has had to deal with speculation concerning his manager but this time it looks as though there is no interest from Tottenham. Spurs are on the look out for a new boss following the sacking of Harry Redknapp but it looks as though former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is favourite to take charge. Everton boss David Moyes is also in the frame and Whelan hopes the call for Martinez does not come. "I have not been approached, and Roberto has not been approached," Whelan told ESPN. "He is so honest that he would tell me the minute that he has. "I think it's pie in the sky that Spurs want Roberto. It seems that way as they have made no approach. That's not to say that they won't, but I hope that Spurs go for David Moyes and leave us alone."
