Redknapp ready to up Palacios bid

Wigan Athletic, 12:04, January 15, 2009 ,

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to make a £14m bid for Wigan midfielder Wilson Palacios after failing with a £10m offer.

Redknapp had a £10m bid rejected by Latics chairman Dave Whelan, who said they will not sell at that price, and Redknapp is now set to go back with an improved offer.
The Spurs boss is keen to bolster his midfield but there could be trouble on the horizon if Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson follows up his long-term interest in the Honduran ace.
Redknapp decided that Palacios was for him after he ran Spurs ragged at the weekend, but Ferguson is believed to want to wait until the summer before making his move.
Palacios has become a big hit at the JJB Stadium following his bargain basement £1million switch from Deportivo Olimpia last January and Wigan face a battle to keep hold.
