Trio snub Latics switch
Wigan missed out on a hat-trick of new signings including Aiden McGeady as it turned out to be a frustrating day for Roberto Martinez.
The Latics boss managed to capture Paul Scharner on loan for the rest of the season from Hamburg but he also targeted a number of other signings, only to be left frustrated.
Wigan had agreed a £5million fee with Spartak Moscow for McGeady and a deal looked to be on until the former Celtic star refused to travel to England.
Elsewhere, Barnsley defender John Stones turned down an offer from Latics before opting to join Everton, while Liverpool attacking midfielder Suso also turned down a move.
"I'm making clear that I'm not going on loan to Wigan," the Spaniard revealed. "I'm really happy in Liverpool."
