Wolves utility player Kevin Foley almost walked out on the Republic of Ireland hotel after finding out he was not in the Euro squad.

Foley says he feels 'betrayed' after being named in Irish boss Giovanni Trapattoni's initial 23-man squad for the Euro finals, only to be replaced by Hull's Paul McShane when the final squad was submitted on Tuesday morning. Foley was only told he was out half an hour before the decision and was ready to walk out of the team hotel in Tuscany but was persuaded to stay on and play against a Tuscan Select XI. Foley said: "Words can't really describe how I feel. I'm just gutted. It was tough. "The lads have been great with me, but there's nothing I can do about it. "It's hard to take. I sort of feel betrayed. It's just one of those things but it feels like a kick in the balls."
