Defender warned over future

Wolverhampton Wanderers, 13:16, July 27, 2010 ,

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has warned defender Greg Halford that if he does not impress in pre-season he will be sold.

The 25-year-old has only been at the club for 12 months after signing from Sunderland for £2m last summer but he has found life a struggle and has failed to make an impression.
Having not started for the first team since the clash at Old Trafford against Manchester United last December he has now been told he must impress during pre-season or he will be on his way.
McCarthy said: "Greg is doing well but, if he doesn't take the chance, then he'll move on. He knows that - because I've told him.
"But, fair play to him, he's trained well and he wants to be here, which is a great attitude for me to see."
