Hunt chase to end

Wolverhampton Wanderers, 15:58, January 31, 2010

Wolves look set to miss out on securing a deal for Stephen Hunt after Hull City dismissed reports he could be sold.

The Black Country side have already had three bids for the Republic of Ireland international rejected this month, but manager Mick McCarthy is refusing to give up in his quest to sign him.
McCarthy watched Hunt score from the penalty spot in Wolves' 2-2 draw against City at the KC Stadium on Saturday and there is no doubt he liked what he saw.
He said: "He's a very good player but he is also a Hull player.
"I've watched him play for Ireland as well and have never seen him play any other way than he did.
"There's been a lot of speculation but I have never confirmed or denied anything."
Meanwhile, Tigers boss Phil Brown says he is under no pressure from chairman Adam Pearson to sell his prize asset.
Brown said: "The chairman has just had a word with me and I am very confident Stephen Hunt will still be a Hull player.
"If we sold him these fans would go crazy and it is certainly not on my agenda."
