New boss sweats on Fletcher's fitness
Wolverhampton Wanderers, 00:00, February 25, 2012
Wolves are sweating on the fitness of Steven Fletcher ahead of their trip to Newcastle as he looks to shake off the effects of a virus.
The in-form striker, who has scored ten times this season, hasn't been able to train for much of the week after complaining of migraine, but Terry Connor is quietly optimistic about his chances of being involved.
Connor is taking charge of Wolves for the first time since being confirmed as manager under the end of the season and desperately needs a positive start to ease the club's relegation fears.
His hopes of doing that will undoubtedly be enhanced by the availability of Fletcher and winger Michael Kightly, who has recovered from the back injury he suffered against Aston Villa four weeks ago.
He is also set to have Sebastien Bassong to call on against his former club as the on-loan Spurs defender has responded well to treatment on the hamstring injury he picked up in the 5-1 defeat to West Brom, the game which cost Mick McCarthy his job at Molineux.
Midfielder Karl Henry is back in the squad as well after completing a three match ban.
