Wolves to take Monaco gamble
Wolverhampton Wanderers, 12:57, June 28, 2009 ,
Wolves have contacted French top-flight outfit Monaco about a deal for Croatian international midfielder Jerko Leko.
The 29-year-old central midfielder has won over 50 caps for Croatia and was part of their World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 squads.
Known for his hard running and ability to keep possession, Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has targeted experienced international players this summer and Leko fits the bill.
Monaco could be tempted into a deal for Leko because he has only one year left on his contract at the Stade Louis II, where he signed on a Bosman free transfer from Dynamo Kiev in 2006.
