Giroud to miss Germany clash

Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of Olivier Giroud after he was forced to withdraw from the France squad.

The 31-year-old started and scored for France in Friday's victory over Wales at the Stade de France, but he had to leave the field shortly after hitting the back of the net after sustaining an injury.

Giroud was taken for tests in Rambouillet on Saturday and the results confirmed that he had suffered a strain in his right thigh.

The French Football Federation have given Giroud permission to leave the international camp, as they prepare to face Germany in Cologne on Tuesday, and he has now returned back to England.

Arsenal will be hoping that the striker can shake off the problem ahead of their clash with rivals Tottenham on Saturday.
