Villa's next fixture is a trip to Arsenal on February 23 but Guzan insists there will be no time to relax during their weekend off.
The Midlands club moved out of the bottom three with a win over West Ham last time out but American keeper Guzan feels there is still plenty of room for improvement and plans to use the break wisely.
"Right now it's about making sure that we're ready when we go to Arsenal. In this league you very seldom get a week off with the amount of games," Guzan told the Express & Star.
"So for us it's a chance to get back on the training pitch, continue to improve and make sure that when we go down to London against Arsenal we're ready to go and hopefully continue our good performances.
"We need to continue to get better in all areas on the pitch."
