Villa duo a concern for boss
Aston Villa, Updated:
Alex McLeish will be hoping striker Darren Bent and goalkeeper Shay Given are fit for Aston Villa's trip to Everton on Saturday.
As we reported over the weekend, the Villa chief has already got star forward Bent back in the club's Bodymoor Heath treatment room after he was released by England on Sunday suffering from a groin problem which ruled him out of Friday's 3-0 win in Bulgaria.
Villa's record signing was given no chance of playing for the Three Lions in Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales at Wembley, but McLeish is looking for some positive news from his medical staff in the hope that Bent can play a part at Goodison Park this coming weekend.
McLeish will also be monitoring Given's situation with the Republic of Ireland as a back and groin problem has been hampering him over the international break.
The 35-year-old played in Ireland's 0-0 draw against Slovakia on Friday but missed training on Sunday and is doubtful for Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualification clash against Russia in Moscow.
