Villa set to complete £1.5m full-back deal
Latest news update:
Sevilla have revealed Aston Villa are close to tieing up a £1.5million deal for Spanish full-back Antonio Luna.
The Andalusian club are having to sell off a number of their squad due to financial problems and are ready to let youngster Luna leave after four years at the Ramon Sanchez Poznan.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Mallorca but made just 11 appearances in La Liga as the islanders were relegated.
However, Villa boss Paul Lambert has seen enough to invest in Luna and hopes the Spaniard will provide competition for fellow full-back Joe Bennett in the Villans' defence.
Luna is thought to be close to agreeing a three-year deal with Villa and Sevilla's director of football Ramon Verdejo says he expects the transfer to go through soon.
"It is true that we are close to finalising his move to Aston Villa," said Verdejo.
