Loftus-Cheek wants more of the action
Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is determined to impress Maurizio Sarri when given an opportunity in any competition.
The 22-year-old has been on the Chelsea books since 2014 but made only 26 Premier League appearances, with four this term.
He has yet to start a top-flight match in 2018-19 but has scored two goals from only 116 minutes of action, including the second as the Blues beat Fulham 2-0 on Sunday.
The England ace has been used mainly in the Europa League, starting four games and scoring three times but is still unable to force his way into Sarri’s league plans.
Sunday’s outing was his first since October’s win at Burnley and the former Crystal Palace loan star is eager to showcase his skills whenever possible.
‘When I get time to play I am always doing my best,’ he told chelseafc.com. ‘This season it looked like I am getting time in the Europa League and I had to be ready for that.
‘And if I do well in the Europa League then maybe I will get more minutes in the Premier League, like this game, and I will try to do my best.
‘The more I play the better I feel and the better I play. Days like this I get my time to play and try to take it, whether that is a goal or an assist or making blocks.’
