Loftus-Cheek set for Chelsea stay
Chelsea boss Mauirzio Sarri says midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will not be allowed to depart in the January window.
Loftus-Cheek spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and earned a place in England’s World Cup squad after playing regularly in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has been unable to force his way into the Chelsea side on a regular basis since returning to the club over the summer, but Sarri says he has been impressed with Loftus-Cheek regardless and is not looking to send the midfielder out on loan again in the January window.
“He has played in the Europa League and League Cup, some in the Premier League but not starting. At the moment he’s very important for us,” Sarri told reporters.
“He had some problems to understand what I wanted, but he is improving and in the last two matches I’ve been happy. I want him to stay so I think there’s no chance [of him leaving].”
