Bruno issues rallying cry after Cardiff loss
Brighton captain Bruno is convinced Albion have the quality to avoid the drop after Tuesday’s damaging defeat to Cardiff.
The Seagulls had a chance to all but secure survival at the Amex Stadium as a victory would have seen them move eight points clear of Cardiff in the final Premier League relegation spot.
However, Brighton went down 2-0 to Cardiff and are just two points clear of danger, with five games remaining, although they do have a game in hand over the Bluebirds.
‘It’s a battle for survival and we knew we were in it, the result makes that table even tighter now,’ Bruno told the club website.
‘We have to step up now and be ready for this fight, my role as captain is to try and help the boys in any way I can.
‘I was trying to do that before the game tonight [Tuesday] as well, we need to relax and do our best.
‘We have a lot of quality in this squad and we have to play our game that we’ve shown in the past this season – we’re in a really big battle but we need to have a clear mind and relax on the field.
‘ Brighton face a tough trip to Wolves on Saturday, while Cardiff host title chasers Liverpool on Sunday, and punters may wish to use their free bet on this weekend’s Premier League games as the battle for survival continues.
