Rose happy to take cautious approach
Danny Rose is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to what he thinks Tottenham can achieve this season.
Spurs boosted their chances of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League thanks to their 1-0 victory over Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night, and they know they can guarantee third place if they win their remaining three league fixtures.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also still going strong in the Champions League, with a semi-final tie against Ajax to come over the next couple of weeks.
England international Rose feels the club are on the cusp of achieving one of their best ever seasons.
‘Bar one week when we lost to Burnley, Chelsea and drew to Arsenal, I think over the course of the season we can be proud of what we’ve done,’ Rose told reporters.
‘It’s not over yet, we’re in the home stretch and we’ve got a chance to make this season one of the best Tottenham has ever had.
‘ Rose is keen not to get too carried away, however, as it was only a couple of months ago that Spurs were talking about winning the Premier League title, but a drop in form ultimately scuppered their chances of keeping pace with Liverpool and Manchester City.
‘I fell into this trap, saying what we could achieve two months ago when we were in the mix with Liverpool and City,’ the 28-year-old added.
‘I thought we were right in there.
I don’t want to fall into that trap again.
I’d rather keep it in the dressing room.
‘ Next up for Spurs is a home clash with London rivals West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday and punters may choose to use their free bet to back Pochettino’s side to extend their 100% record at their new stadium since they moved in at the start of the month.
