Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk says his team can still win the Premier League title as they prepare to take on Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds sit second in the Premier League table, one point behind league-leaders Manchester City.

City are the favourites to defend their crown as they prepare to travel to Brighton, but Liverpool‘s midweek heroics have given Van Dijk even more confidence.

Liverpool won 4-0 on Tuesday to beat Barcelona and book their place in the Champions League final, with the Spanish giants unable to build on their 3-0 first-leg win.

Although he has urged everyone to be realistic, the Dutchman says his team believe they still have a great chance of winning their first Premier League crown, with punters able to use their free bet to back the Reds.

He told Sky Sports: ‘It is on, but you have to be realistic.

The way City have been playing all season everyone should expect them to win.

‘But you never know and the only thing we can do is focus on beating Wolves, because that is a very big task as well.

‘Everyone is talking about Brighton doing something, but we need to focus on what is in front of us because Wolves have been outstanding this season and make it difficult for any team.

That’s why they are where they are in the table.

‘But we’re at home, it’s our last game of the season and we want to give everything we’ve got, and we will.

If we win we’ve done our job, we will have done what we could do and then we will see what will happen at Brighton.

‘Sometimes you have that bit of luck, but you’ve got to keep doing the right things.

This week was an outstanding week for us in the Champions League and we will see how Sunday will unfold.

‘ Jurgen Klopp is hoping to recall Mohamed Salah for Sunday’s game as Liverpool look to preserve their unbeaten home record.

The Reds last suffered a league defeat at Anfield in April 2017.
