Pannu cash boost for Blues

Acting Birmingham chairman Peter Pannu has promised boss Alex McLeish will have money to spend on the right players in January.

Pannu has spoken out following last week's revelation from McLeish that he would be looking to bring in loan signings during the New Year transfer window because there would be no cash available for any permanent deals.

And he confirmed that, should the Blues boss identify any players who can enhance the side in their battle to stay in the Premier League, then owner Carson Yeung would supply the funds.

"January is always a bad time to buy," said Pannu.

"We will consider each request on a need to buy basis and need to play basis and finally on a need to strengthen the team basis, and not on a buy for the sake of buying basis."
