Rovers late striker deal

Blackburn missed out on signing QPR forward DJ Campbell before the transfer deadline but he looks set to join Rovers on loan next week.

The 31-year-old had been targeted by a number of Championship clubs during the transfer window but none were able to secure his signature.

Promotion chasing Hull City and Crystal Palace were linked to the striker but a deal could not be concluded, while Rovers also tried to sign the player on Thursday, but couldn't get the transfer completed in time.

With the loan window due to open next week, Michael Appleton is still keen on bringing Campbell in on a short-term deal.

The striker has shown already this season he has what it takes to score goals in the Championship. Campbell had a spell on loan with Ipswich earlier in the campaign, scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances for the Tractor Boys.
