Tangerines dream of Goodwillie return

Dundee United are interested in bringing Blackburn striker David Goodwillie back to Tannadice.

Manager Jackie McNamara confirmed he wants a loan deal for the Scotland international who has made just 10 starts since he moved to Ewood Park for £2.8million in 2011.

"We've spoken to Blackburn about his availability and getting him back on loan," McNamara told STV.

"We'd love to have him back. Whether or not it's possible, we'll have to wait and see.

"I think there's a few clubs after him, but I think it certainly would be one we'd be interested in."

Goodwillie, who was not in the Scotland squad that beat Croatia 1-0 on Friday night, scored 19 goals in his final season in Scottish football before moving south of the border.
