Cherries ace ready for first-team battle

Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling is hoping to get more game time next season but knows he has a fight on his hands.

The 27-year-old was hampered by injury last term and, when he was fit, he found his way back in to the team hampered by the form of the players who were in the side at the time.

Gosling has set his sights on a new deal at the club given his current deal has a little over 12 months left to run but knows he will need to prove himself by earning some game time, first and foremost..

He told the Echo: "We have Andrew Surman, Harry Arter, Lewis Cook and Emo (Emerson Hyndman), who went on loan to Rangers and had a great season up there.

"So, we have strength in depth, which is good. Everyone pushes each other through it – and a lot of different midfield combinations played last year.

"I am sure it will be no different next season."
