The Seagulls, along with Crystal Palace and West Brom, have been accredited with an interest in the 29-year-old, who is currently the joint top scorer in the Championship after netting seven goals in his opening 11 league appearances of the season.
Goals have certainly been a problem for Brighton following their promotion to the top-flight, as they are currently averaging less than a goal a game and only forward Tomer Hemed has netted more than once in the top-flight.
Hooper's last spell in the Premier League wasn't particularly fruitful, as he netted just six times across two seasons for Norwich, although he has scored regularly at Championship level, while he also scored on a consistent basis during a three-year spell in Scotland with Celtic.
It is believed Wednesday would be willing to sell Hooper for around £6million, which could be enough to entice Brighton boss Chris Hughton into submitting a bid during the January transfer window.
It would not be the first time Hughton has signed Hooper, as he brought him to Norwich from Celtic in the summer of 2013.
