Barca in Aubameyang snub claims

Barcelona reportedly rebuffed an opportunity to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

It was suggested that the Bundesliga outfit were willing to part with the influential Gabon international hitman, who bagged an impressive 31 goals in 32 games last season, when Barca were looking to replace Paris Saint-Germain-bound Brazilian star Neymar.

However, it appears that the Catalan club's chiefs rejected the 28-year-old and instead paid Dortmund half of the £198million picked up from the sale of Neymar for the services of winger Ousmane Dembele.

The decision to sign Dembele ahead of Aubameyang is believed to be because Barca officials were happy with their existing striking options of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi and they wanted more width adding to the ranks.
