Robben excited for new campaign
Arjen Robben says pre-season is going well on both a personal and collective level as Bayern Munich prepare for the new campaign.
The reigning German champions are once again expected to be the team to beat in 2018-19 and Robben is looking forward to the new season.
The Dutchman says the players have been working hard over the summer and knows how vital it is to get off to a good start.
‘You can lay the foundations for the entire campaign in pre-season,’ he said. ‘It’s very important. We’ve got five weeks of training behind as now and we’ve worked very well, so hopefully that’ll show over the next few weeks. Want to have a good start to the season.’
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger is fit after recovering from an adductor injury and has played a full part in pre-season training as Bayern’s preparations for the new campaign include the German Super Cup clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
He added: ‘I’m very happy not to have missed a single minute of training. It’s always good and is a big objective of mine. My ambition never goes away.’
Bayern kick-off the new Bundesliga season at home to Hoffenheim on August 24.
