Boateng set to remain with Bayern

Bayern Munich
Out-of-favour Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng will stay for now.

Jerome Boateng will stay with Bayern Munich until at least January after a late move to Juventus failed to materialise.

Boateng was once an important player for Bayern but has hardly figured in recent seasons and has been heavily linked with a switch away from the Allianz Arena.

Nothing had materialised over the summer but then news broke that Italian champions Juve could be keen to take before the transfer window closed yesterday.

The Bianconeri have been hit by the news that Giorgio Chiellini could miss the next six months of the campaign with a knee injury, and Boateng had been suggested as a replacement.

However a bid was not forthcoming and the 30-year-old now faces the prospect of watching on from the sidelines for the rest of the season unless a deal can be sorted in January.

The player’s first-team prospects were hit even further after Bayern snapped up defenders Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez during the summer.
