Sane wages too much for Bayern
Bayern Munich's hopes of landing Leroy Sane from Manchester City were dashed by the player's wage demands, it has been claimed.
The Bavarians were chasing the German international throughout the summer as he soon became their number one transfer target, but a deal failed to happen.
There were suggestions City did not want to sell, the transfer fee was too high and the player himself was also reluctant to leave Manchester and return to his homeland.
However it has now emerged that the wages were the real issue, with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic saying Bayern were not willing to break their wage structure to accommodate him.
In the end any hope of a deal was scuppered after Sane picked up a knee injury that ruled him out for the next six months. But if Bayern had had it their way he would have been on board before then.
There is talk that Bayern will renew their interest in the future, but the player will have to lower his demands if a deal is to happen.
