Bayern Munich’s Germany international Niklas Sule has been hailed as a “great defender” by Liverpool’s Dutch stopper Virgil van Dijk.

The 24-year-old, who moved to the Allianz Arena from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim in summer 2017, has scored four goals in 89 appearances for the Bavarian giants.

Sule’s form for Bayern has resulted in him becoming an integral part of Germany coach Joachim Low’s plans.

He now has 20 caps for Die Mannschaft and will add to that when his nation face the Netherlands in a crunch Euro 2020 qualification game.

And, having already faced the Dutch twice in a Germany kit, Sule is yet to come out on the losing side.

Looking ahead to the game and Liverpool’s Netherlands’ international stopper, Van Dijk has highlighted Sule as one of the opposition’s star performers.

The 28-year-old, who picked up UEFA’s 2019 Player of the Year award after helping his club side win the Champions League, said: “Niklas Sule is a great defender.

“He doesn’t play for Bayern for without reason. I’ve already had some nice battles with him.”
